The purpose of the project was to highlight the interconnection between politics, democracy, and sustainable development, with a particular focus on the process of decarbonization and the critical importance of climate preservation. The program addressed key topics such as sustainable development, renewable energy sources (RES), energy efficiency, and environmental protection.
To support these themes, research was conducted to examine how and to what extent terms such as “environmental protection,” “sustainable development,” “climate change,” “renewable energy sources,” “green energy,” and “just transition” are referenced in the election programs of political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The methodology combined desk research, questionnaires, and interviews conducted via phone and in-person meetings.
The project presented the climate-related goals and actions of political parties, assessed their alignment with global developments, and evaluated the relevance of their proposed solutions for a low-carbon and climate-neutral future. It also identified which parties are committed to a decarbonized society and economy—emphasizing the creation of green jobs, strengthening the economy, and improving environmental quality. Furthermore, it examined their stated intentions regarding investments in renewable energy sources (including wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal energy) and the promotion of energy efficiency.
